From traffic areas to urban spaces
Modernising streets
The rediscovery of the street as an urban public space in recent years is primarily linked to the pressing challenges of the transport transition and climate protection. Urban planning measures for the reorganisation and redistribution of traffic areas and the topic of blue and green infrastructures are usually at the forefront of the discussion.
In order to arrive at a new system of coordinates for the reorganisation of the streets of tomorrow, the requirements for climate adaptation must be harmonised with the structural layout and equipment. The façades of the buildings or the ground floor zones are just as much a part of this as the street furniture or the road surface.
The event emphasises key factors in how the spatial qualities of streets can be further developed under today's traffic and environmental requirements.
