»Berlin is made up of many different neighbourhoods, with many different identities. What connects them are the shared spaces – streets, paths, squares and parks. The constant movement and alternation between these diverse spaces and distinct identities is what makes Berlin so special.

The streets are our living and meeting places, and it is crucial that they incorporate identity-forming, high-quality urban design. Street space is a valuable commodity and must be distributed fairly according to need. Above all, the streets are a resource for climate-friendly transformation: less space for cars, more space for bicycles and pedestrians and parks, over car parks. The streets should invite people to roam the city, in all its diversity, and relish in the communal experience.«
